There is something here for everyone. The river is superb for the beginner or a serious racer. For an earlier-season race, this course and the enthusiasm of the sponsors are outstanding.
The start line was a little tense for the paddlers due to the swift conditions of the river on race day in ‘08. It was difficult to hold boats in a set starting area for any length of time in order to get a straight line of boats. And the bridge pilings posed something of a hazard for racers who were trying to get lined-up. This can be remedied with an in-boat bank start with positions determined by order of registration and it would be a little safer.
If you’re thinking about a race on this date in ‘09, I highly recommend this one.
Ditto to Ed Leszek’s comment. The start was difficult and dangerous. Otherwise a great job with the race. Thanks
Everybody please send the poster to all of your address on your
computer. We need as many “boaters” as we can get. We all want
to create a good POT of money for the Cancer Society.
Plese do not hesitate to ask your Friends.
